Kayla Battle is a graphic designer, artist, and illustrator in Brooklyn, New York.
Born and raised in Detroit, MI, she earned her BFA in Graphic Design from Western Michigan University in 2019. Kayla currently works as a graphic designer creating visual identity systems, environmental experiences, and illustrations at BAM. She is always open to inspiring freelance design and illustration projects, and has created work for UN Women, New York City Center, Western Michigan University School of Music, The Association for Behavioral Analysis, The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, and more.
When she is not designing, Kayla upholds an artistic practice exploring voluminous forms with playful, tender, and allegorical themes. She often (but not always) views her works as storybook retellings of complex inner experiences.
Kayla likes playing the piano, spending time in nature (a safe distance from bears), yoga, dancing, house music (especially Detroit house), and trying lots of new activities.
