Born and raised in Detroit, she moved to New York after earning her BFA in Graphic Design from Western Michigan University. She first began her design career in environmental design and wayfinding systems before transitioning into her current role as a designer at BAM, supporting community and arts-driven work.
Kayla’s personal practice is rooted in experimentation and visual narrative—often through drawing, painting, zines, and animation. Her artistic explorations allow her to stay curious, play with form, and connect storytelling to her work in meaningful ways.
