New York African Film Festival (In progress)

The identity for the 32nd annual African Film Festival leans into the festival’s themes of youth in revolt, displacement, global connection, and changing political climates. Through the use of layered sonar-like motifs, abstracted silhouttes, and warm fiery colors, the system alludes to the rising intensity of both environmental and political change, and comments on the subsequent movement and expansion across the diaspora.

This electric, afro-futurist identity design for the 47th annual DanceAfrica Festival uses a custom modular typeface and flexible grid system to mimic the patterns of traditional Cameroonian garments.
